Foundation For Africa

The Foundation for Africa is a non-governmental, non-profit development aid organisation.
It was first registered in Hungary (2002) and then in the Democratic Republic of Congo (2004).
Its leader, France Mutombo Tshimuanga, a Congolese national who studied theology in Hungary, was inspired by his experiences on a humanitarian mission, the indescribable poverty, the need in all areas of life and the social differences between the two continents, to help in an organised way in his native Africa.
It is a privilege to help! – Together, with you, for more than two decades.
The 21-year-old Foundation for Africa aims to develop education, social and health services in Africa, to organise tolerance and awareness-raising lectures, cultural programmes, aid and social education in Hungary.
We are proud of the fact that we effectively support and implement international development projects in numerous areas: from coordinating scholarship programmes to building a network of multisectoral contacts, from promoting effective intercultural communication to educational development projects, we are active in a wide variety of initiatives in both Africa and Hungary.
We care, teach, we heal, we develop.

Democratic Republic of Congo
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, we are active in the fields of education, social services and health: in the capital, Kinshasa, we run the Othniel Primary and Secondary School, La Providence orphanage; also in Kinshasa, we are building a high-rise health centre (Beteshda Clinic) and we run and support a medical clinic next to the College Othniel, called Beteshda Plus Clinic. Dr Tshava, whose previous studies and the construction of his clinic were supported by the Foundation, practices here.
In Goma, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, we supported the construction of a school and housing in an area severely damaged by the eruption of the Nyiragongo volcano. The Angalisho School and its students will be added to our support programme in the near future.

Tanzania
In Namanga, Tanzania, we support the maintenance of the Green Eden School and run a student and orphan support programme.
Humanitarian tourism
Our popular initiative Humanitarian Tourism: we organise trips to Congo and Tanzania, where participants not only enjoy a holiday but also carry out a humanitarian mini-project.

A bridge between Africa and Europe
We believe that positive shared experiences have a transformative effect – we work to ensure that people cross the «bridge» we build with joy, openness and a sense of connection. Our aim is to communicate international development issues in an accessible way and to engage our audience in global and humanitarian issues. In the next five years, we will be preparing for the international expansion of our organisation, while implementing our diverse projects and humanitarian initiatives.
